MUSEUM TRIPS

One of AHUA's favorite past times is... well you guessed it... visits to museums! Each quarter, AHUA plans exciting trips to our local art museums as a way to expose our members to famous works firsthand. We have been to many of the most famous museums across Southern California such as:

  • Getty Center and Getty Villa

  • Los Angeles County Museum of Art (LACMA)

  • The Broad and MOCA

  • The Huntington Library, Art Museum, and Botanical Gardens

  • Norton Simon Museum

  • Museum of Contemporary Art San Diego (MCASD)

  • Laguna Beach Art Walk

  • and so much more!

So if you have the time, come and join us on one of our many trips to these wonderful museums.

Sign-ups are on a first come, first serve basis with priority for those who have a paid AHUA Membership. Sign-ups are first released at General Meetings and later announced via our weekly newsletter, Discord, and Announcements page.

ART EXHIBITIONS

One of the central projects for the Art History Undergraduate Association is our annual student-led art exhibition, where we seek to promote creative expression in people to tell stories through visual mediums, and more.

Beginning with a theme and evolving into a greatly publicized Call for Art, general members have the opportunity to join a variety of committees to participate in curation, exhibition design, installation, marketing, boothing, etc. This year our theme is:

BELONGING: [HOME, MEMORY, AND ROOT]

Our exhibition theme explores the multifaceted nature of home, tied to memory and roots. It challenges perceptions of "home" by delving into how individual backgrounds and experiences shape this concept, whether literally or metaphorically. The theme extends beyond humanistic settings, using "home" as a symbol across disciplines to promote empathy, celebrate diversity, and bring awareness to those still searching for a sense of belonging. The exhibition acts as a frame to prolong the UCI community's effort to make the campus a home for all, emphasizing inclusivity and understanding among students, faculty, and supporters.

Special thanks to the UCI Art History Department and various funding sponsors. None of this can be done without their support.

OUTSTANDING PERFORMANCE AND CREATIVITY AWARD

AHUA was awarded the Outstanding Performance & Creativity Award at the 44th annual Anteater Awards on May 22, 2024!

This award honors a registered campus organization that embraces creativity and self-expression through its mission and values. The organization fosters personal development and expression among their members while maintaining retention and building an inclusive community.

UCI ART HISTORY DEPARTMENT

The Art History Undergraduate Association works closely with the Art History Department at UC Irvine. Throughout the year the club organizes lectured events, museum trips, and art exhibitions with their support. The connectivity between the club and the faculty is truly unique and provides students with a face-to-face interaction and acquaintanceship that is not available in most departments on campus. The department offers students with not just essential connections, but also provides different first hand points-of-view that can be applied to all future courses.
