Meet AHUA's 2024-25 Board!
President
Myra McCants
Hi! My name is Myra (she/her), and I'm thrilled to be your President for 2024-2025! I'm a fourth-year Art History B.A. and Biological Sciences B.S. double major. I started diving into the world of art history out of pure curiosity during the pandemic, so when I stumbled upon the AHUA booth at AIF during my first year, I immediately knew I found something special and AHUA exceeded my expectations. The community was welcoming, and I fell in love with the routine of attending weekly meetings, traveling to museums together on weekends, and organizing our annual art exhibition! I have made some great friends and fun memories through this club, and I can’t wait to make more memories with all of you! As President, I lead club operations by preparing meeting agendas, delegating responsibilities to a team of 7 board members, and facilitating meetings. I maintain a strong working relationship between the club and the UC Irvine Art History Department, draft funding proposals for the annual student art exhibition, and more!
Vice President
Rachael Lee
Hello! My name is Rachael (she/her) and I am AHUA’s Vice President for the 2024-25 school year. I am a third year Korean Literature and Culture B.A. and Language Science B.A. As Vice President, I am in charge of overseeing the club along with the President, and communicating with external organizations/departments on campus outside of the Art History department. I am also committed to fostering personal/career development in AHUA members. Joining AHUA was something I did not expect at all, but it’s a decision I will never regret. AHUA allows me to explore and deepen my curiosities for the Arts in meaningful and fulfilling ways, and as VP I am committed to bringing this sentiment this year to returning and new members alike.
Treasurer
Adora Chen
Hi yall! My name is Adora (she/her), and I'm excited to be your treasurer again this year! I'm a fourth year majoring in Business Administration with a minor in Digital Arts. I've been with AHUA since freshman year, and it’s become my favorite organization at UCI. I love being able to be a part of the arts community even though I’m a business student. My favorite memories have been our annual exhibitions; it feels like I can make a real impact while doing it with friends that I’m so grateful to have met. As the treasurer, I keep track of the club’s expenses, manage membership fees, oversee fundraising, and budget for our art exhibitions! In my free time, I enjoy drawing, painting, cooking, trying new food spots (always looking for recs), and playing board games. I can’t wait to see what my last year in AHUA will bring!
Secretary
Michelle Weon
Hi! I’m Michelle, Secretary for AHUA 2024-25. I’m a fourth year Cognitive Sciences B.S. and Art History B.A. double major. I’m glad to serve another year in AHUA as Secretary to continue my role as AHUA’s newsletter writer, so that our community members can receive weekly overviews about general meetings and museum trip information, weekly recaps, photo album highlights, and further notifications about future social events. I will also contribute to the maintenance of the AHUA website, attendance, and carpool sign-up sheets for all social events. AHUA has been a wonderful, lively group of museum and art-gallery lovers for an international student like me to visit many places around Southern California that I’ve never been to before. This year, I hope to meet new faces and become an inviting presence for newcomers coming in from abroad.
Events Director
Tabitha Jang
Hi, my name is Tabitha Jang and I’m happy to serve as AHUA’s Events Director for the 2024-2025 school year! I’m entering my second year at UCI as an Art History major, looking to also pursue an Urban Studies major. My role as the Events Director consists of planning the annual end of the year exhibition, organizing trips to local art exhibits, and reaching out to UCI community members for art-related collaborations. I love the time that I’ve spent with AHUA as a comfortable space to express my interest and love for art history and the world of art in general! Being in AHUA only enriches my experience at UCI and I hope to keep making cherished memories. In my free time, I’m always listening to music, cafe-hopping, thrifting, hanging out with friends. You will always find me at a sunny beach!!!
Historian
Ashley Yang
Hello everyone! My name is Ashley Yang (she/her) and I am a third year Art History and Anthropology double major. As the historian for AHUA this year, I am responsible for documenting all of our events on camera and sharing them with all of our members. I will also be managing the website and the discord server, and creating graphics for the club! I joined AHUA because I was looking to connect with other Art History majors and make friends with fellow art lovers, and I can definitely say that I’ve found a wonderful and welcoming community in the club; I hope that I can continue to foster that sense of community as historian this year!
Social Media Coordinator
Maya Villalobos
Hi everyone! My name is Maya (she/her) and I’m this year’s public relations director! I’m a third year at UCI, and I’m majoring in business with a minor in global sustainability! As Social Media Coordinator, I manage AHUA’s instagram! I participate in creating graphics for the social media accounts and serving as a bridge between AHUA’s followers and our board! I enjoy being a part of AHUA because of how welcoming and friendly everyone is! Museum trips have been great ways to make new friends and explore socal! Being a part of AHUA is just the right dose of art history for my time here at UCI! In my free time I like to hang out with friends, go to the beach, try new eating spots, and hike! :)
Graduate Advisor
Taylor Robertson
You already know who I am, but in case you forgot I am first year master’s student in Art History and I will be the first ever AHUA graduate advisor. As graduate advisor I will lend my advice to the AHUA board with all of my years of experience and expertise. I love being a part of AHUA, I just can’t leave it. I joined my freshman year when I was looking for other art history majors, and what I found was a tight community of art lovers. I hope to help keep AHUA a space for anyone interested in art to find friends and good memories.
